Fishing Tournament Rules
1. Teams may consist of one to four members, one team per boat.
2. One team member must be at least 18 years of age. All members of a registered team must fish from the same vessel.
3. At least one team member must be a member in good standing with SMYC / NFGFC, or the team must have a sponsor from one of the clubs.
4. Entry fees are $40.00 per team regardless of number on a team up to four. Entry fees will be divided as follows:
$25.00 for prize money.
$15.00 toward the cost of the fish fry.
$5.00 will be charged for the fish fry for non-team members.
5. Entry fees are non-refundable. The only exception to this is in the event that a tournament is postponed or cancelled by the Tournament Director.
6. In the event a tournament is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, it may be rescheduled for the following Saturday.
7. The Tournament Director and Tournament Committee reserve the right to make all decisions regarding the safe operation of a tournament and their decision will be final.
8. Each captain is responsible for the safe operation of his or her vessel and must comply with all federal and state regulations governing such operation.
9. The use of alcohol during S.M.Y.C/N.F.G.F.C. tournaments is prohibited.
10. The tournament will begin at safe daylight, as determined by the Tournament Director, at the launch site. Each team Captain must sign in at the SMYC between 5:30 and 8:00 am on tournament day.
11. Tournament conclusion time will be at 3:30 P.M. At least one member of each team must check in with the Tournament Director by the designated conclusion time. Any team that checks in late will receive no credit for the days catch.
12. The Tournament winner shall be the team with the heaviest combined weight of one each of the tournament spices. Only fish of legal harvest size, according to State law, will be accepted at the weigh-in. The Tournament Director will measure all questionable fish. If a fish is determined to be not legal, the fish will be removed from the teams catch. The team will not be allowed to substitute another fish.

Spanish Mackerel
Black Sea Bass
Lady Fish
Blue Fish
13. Only fish taken by hook and line are eligible for weigh in.
14. All weights are final. Fish will not be weighed more than once.
15. In the event of a tie, the team with heaviest single fish of the tournament species will take the position.
16. Teams are allowed to use live, dead, or artificial bait considered legal by the laws of the State of Florida.
17. No team may approach another team on the water any closer than 100 feet unless under mutual agreement by both teams.
18. Contestants may exit their vessel to fish (i.e. wade fish).
19. All participants must possess a valid Florida Saltwater Fishing License when applicable to Florida State Law.
20. All team members are expected to conduct themselves in a safe, courteous and professional manner at all times. The Tournament Committee will have the final say in all conduct matters.
21. The Tournament Director may implement additional tournament specific rules and restrictions for individual tournaments. Entrants are responsible for understanding rules for each tournament.
22. The tournament committee shall consist of the Tournament Chairman, Tournament Director and all Tournament Committee members present at each tournament.
23. The Tournament Director may allow anglers choice of launch site.
Youth angler award: An award will be presented to the youth angler's (any team member not 16 by tournament day) that catches the heaviest single tournament spices fish. This fish does not have to be included in the teams total if another member of the team catches a larger fish of the same species. If two fish of the same weight are weighed in, the first fish weighed in will win the tie. Awards will be presented for first, second and third place.
