Two fishing reports in a weeks time - those fish better watch out!
Lil Chalk wanted to go after I went last week, so we headed out this afternoon...no need go early with the moon full and the tides being lazy. Talked to a kayaker that was fishing in kayak wars at the ramp....he told me of 300 plus tails flying in the air earlier this morning. We headed off and arrived at the first spot in a few minutes...coming off plane a school of reds are humping away from the boat
Not too long after that I nail one fish out of a small school..let Lil Chalk plays with it and we landed it, took some pics and added it to the cooler. About ten more casts...another is jacked up and lil Chalk managed to wrestle it to the boat and it goes in the box. 10 minutes and we are done
We start fishing...think I picked up a few more....jacked one up....see a school humping away...trying to get Lil Chalk to throw into the school, stop the boat and fight a fish...plant push pole, pull on fish and Lil Chalk goes flying out of the boat
You would have thought that kid had seen a shark...he more or less walked on water and was back in the boat in one second flat
I land my fish and drag Lil Chalk back into the boat....I say, " Do you wanna go home?" He say, "Yes, but I want to come back here and catch some more
" I talk him into putting on my shirt and I wring out his skivies and he goes back to fishing. He ended up catching the biggest red of the day in his skivies
He was a real trooper and kicked my butt in his underwear.
7 reds landed - biggest 27.5"
Lures - Capt Mike's Aqua Dream spoons and DOA CAL grub
Nothing broke, but it looks like I will be buying a new trim tab though...seems to be stuck or something.
Great day on the water..can't wait til next time!
