What size (radius) cast net do you guys like best for bait fish?

Need to think about the lead and mesh size for the type of bait and depth of water your needing it for -

All my bait comes in boxes and bags on the shelf at the store. No need for a cast net.

A 3 or 4 foot with 3/8s inch mesh is great for finger mullet and mud minnows.
Either will be easy to throw. If your not confident go for the smaller net.

I have a 10 foot mullet net that is great for LYs and big mullet.
Its a lot more of a challenge to throw but when you hit a big school you got em!

Dont get confused with radius and diameter guys lol any net works for me tho. Just match the mesh size smaller than your quarry(as if you havn't already figured that out) or be a man and fish artificals

I have a 7' 3/8 mesh, which is effective for trout size LY and pinfish, but will soon retire from throwing it as Calvin can now throw it effectively. If you're consider getting one, go with one that has a lighter mono and as much weight as you can throw.

Also, don't let the net size intimidate you. Like riding a bicycle, once you got it down, you can throw a lot bigger net than you think. I can pancake an 8' net with no problem and I'm only 5''7''. Heck, Calvin can now consistently throw my 7' net and he's not yet even 5'.

I use 10 Ft. also, a calusa 3/8 or 1/2 depending, I dont use it that much up here for some reason, mainly have them for snook fishing. A larger net takes a bit of getting used to but I use the same method to throw as Baygator. I gotta remember how the guy in the video preps the net however as my way of prepping it leaves me soaking wet most of the time. Also most measure nets in height/radius, as far as mesh selection goes it really depends on water depth, the larger the mesh the faster it sinks given they are the same weight. I use my 3/8 most of the time for throwing on finger mullet and channel markers and the 1/2 for larger mullet or schools of threadfins or greenbacks that are wanting to dive when they see the boat.

I use a 6 or 7 footer depending on which one I have with me. 3/8". I like the "punch through" move he does there. I'll see if I can master that. I have never really seen any other way to throw one. Is there another way?
