Does anyone know if you can legally tent camp on Dog island? They other question is that i have been trying to find this jig head that i used trolling for trout and reds while kayaking with a friend. The jig head has a flat / diamond shaped head w/ a colored skirt. If you know the name or the web site i can find them it would be greatly appreciated.

You have to get a canoeing permit. It is only allowed as a part of the canoe trail excursion.

The only Dog Island that I see as part of the canoe trail "that allows camping" is located close to Boca grand in S. Fl.
I would think that the Nature Conservancy would be the ones to ask "since it owns most of the Island

I've camped at the west end of dog island with no issues twice... Seen others at the east end multiple times... I think you'd have to be doing something pretty stupid to have any trouble. Stay off the dunes, keep your camp clean and you'll be fine. It's a great place!

I found the jig after a long stint of research. They are called tsunami flats jig. Thank you all for your advice!
