I know the water temperature hasn't hit that magical 69 degrees yet, but by chance, has anyone seen any signs of spanish yet?

The waters in and around Panama City are boiling with spanish smashing bait. I ride along the bay everyday on my way to work and best I can tell they showed up in full force here on Tuesday, but I know some have been caught off and on over the past two weeks.

What's the trick for catching these? I haven't targeted them before.

Ken,
Perfect fish for your boat. Slow troll (around 1,000-1,200 rpm) with Gotchas, mackerel rigs or McDonald's soda straw/j-hook in about 8-15 feet of water. Great spot is outside the stake line and scallop shoal off SM. Yu can also watch for birds/bait busting and cast to them. I like to use small silver diamond jigs when casting. The Spanish love glass minnows and those are great imitations.

See Luc's report under Inshore Reports. He hurt 'em 2 days in a row (1 day I helped) with shrimp under a CT, lots of fun way to fish 'em up. West of LH.
