Crazy fog today at St. Marks.

I was hoping to get a few hours of fishing in this morning. Catherine and wanted so bad to get more mackerel. We left the St. Marks fort around 8:00. It was a little hazy at the dock but I expected it would burn off soon. We got close to the lighthouse and noticed it was very thick on the flats. We decided to tuck into an area west of the channel at #17 behind an oyster bar (Sprague Bar) and try some fishing while waiting for the fog to clear. It was unbelievably thick. Occasionally, I would hear boats in the channel but I couldn't see a trace of them. I couldn't believe they were heading out. We hung out for several hours before heading back up river around 11:30. I've never seen fog this thick nor have I seen fog take so long to clear. I wonder when the visibility was reasonable?
