Well folks it has been since the last RTSO that I have been boat-less. I struck a rock that put a hole in the bottom of my boat. Since I am sometimes cheap, I decided to fix it myself. While working on the hole I noticed some scrapes that had gone through the gel-cote so I decided to re-coat the entire boat. That is when I noticed the corners cracked and soft. All of this took much longer than I had planned. I was working on it weekends because my boss didn't think how my boat was more important than his customers. Also, having never done fiberglass or gel-cote work, so it was going slower than most folks with any experience.

Finally about a month and a half ago I was ready to turn her over and do some minor repairs to the inside of the hull. Probably would not take more than an afternoon or two. Well I was as wrong about that as just about everything else having to to with this project. The transom needed to be replaced! That is right, the whole thing. After some very bad words and a lot of effort the transom is replaced, glassed, and gel-coted. The whole thing came out fine.

I took her for a test drive yesterday afternoon on Lake Iamonia. She did great! I would have taken her fishing , but I had to help a friend with his timing belt, which took up my Saturday.

Reds and Trout are in big trouble starting April 3rd. I can't wait to be back at the flats I have been missing these past few months.

You are right. Last year a new motor and this year new surfaces and a transom. It has to be smooth sailing for the next year or two. I feel like I have paid any dues that needed paying.
