What is your application? What kind of boat? What kind of water? Both units have unique features. Hard to answer your question without knowing what you need.

I recently purchased the 740s and I really like it so far. Locks on to the satellite signals quickly, has the internal antenna and the touch screen menu is very easy to navigate. Still learning all the intricacies (route set-up), etc. but I'd definitely recommend it. I have a through-hull transducer and it paints an excellent picture of the bottom even at high speeds.

Thank you for the comments.
I have a ZX20 Skeeter and will use it for some coastal fishing, but primarily inshore, fishing the Ochlockonee bay and adjoining rivers.
