I found this lure in an old tackle box.. I had never used it, but it looked like it might work well so I tied it on and dropped it in the catfish pond just to see if it was a floater and what kind of action it might have... it no sooner hit the water and SWOOSH! about a 3 lb bass... so I chunked it a few times and caught two more and missed two. The bass can't resist it and I want to get some more like it but have no idea what it's called. Anyone see one of these before?
It's 7" long, jointed and has a rubber minnow like tail... It's light weight (possibly balsa wood)..It floats and has the action of a Zara Spook when retrieved slowly and pops when jerked...and runs about a foot deep when retrieved quickly.. It should work well on the trout too.

Looks like some kind of jointed Heddon Lucky 13.. Don't remember Creek Chub making anything with a front end like that although they made more different jointed plugs than any ofther manufacturer I think.

Check on eBay. Search for antique lures and see what pops up. Looks like a Lucky 13 like sundown said, but I don't recall them adding any rubber tails.

There are a lot of collectible lures on eBay and it just might be worth something.

If it is as effective as the bass seem to think, you might have a new business in your retirement years.

THAT IS A VARIATION OF THE RED HEADED LUCKY 13. I HAVE 5 OF THE STRAIGHT LUCKY 13 PLUGS LEFT IN MY BOX OF ANTIQUES. I MAKE A SIMILAR PLUG AND IT IS AS PRODUCTIVE AS THE ORIGINAL 13. I HAVE FISHED THIS PLUG SINCE BACK IN THE FORTIES AND IT ALWAYS PRODUCES WHEN WORKED RIGHT.

I agree it would be fun to try it. Fish seem to learn most every lure, so something new can be a good thing (or in this case something they haven't seen in years). I can remember my brother-in-law telling about when the Buzz Bait for bass first came out. He said he never caught so many big bass, but it didn't take them long to learn it. Still a great bait, but the catches dwindled. Wonder when that's going to happen with new penny Gulp.

Ya can't buy bragging rights.... this thing is hitting the Econfina waters Saturday! I just hope I don't lose it.

About 5 years ago Butch and I stopped in at the Econfina store before fishing.
They had about 50 "old" lures on the counter for sale at $1 each.
They were built on the same style as this lure.
We bought a half dozen and went fishing.
Caught the heck out of good fish on them.
Stopped at the store on the way out and got a dozen more.
Told them about our success.
Next weekend we stopped in there again.
Same lures were $5.99.

Should have kept quiet and bought out the inventory.

Couple years ago I took a red/white Creek Chub Darter down to Cobb rock area and wore the trout out..It was early spring..Don't despise those old plugs.. I got a CC Injured Minnow in my tackle box now..It'll still catch fish anywhere !

I think a buddy on another forum figured it out...It seems to be a Fred Arbogast AC jointed lure... not made in over 20 years, but I found a used one without the tail on ebay for under $7. and bought it.
