I sincerely and humbly apologize for any action which I may have perpetrated for you to punish me in the manner you chose.

My mechanic called Tuesday night, late in evening (never a good sign). He had good news and bad news. My foot, with new low water nose cone attached arrived that morning. While pulling it out they noticed a crack in the unit. Further inspection of the box revealed an in transit (UPS) puncture of the box that damaged the lower unit. He said he could weld it and repair it, but the insurance company had paid for a new lower unit, so we agreed I should get that (not a repaired one). Bob's had insured it, so after a fight with UPS, I should be fine, but the whole process of ordering the unit, shipping it to Bob's and getting it shipped back (although at no expense to me) is going to take another 2-3 weeks. :smt010

I guess I will have more time to chase turkeys, but dangit that is frustrating. I have a boat to fish in (my duck hunting boat), but it is not as comfortable as my flats version. Nor will it take real good seas, anything over 2 feet is scary.

But of course. Aucilla is Indian for "Mess up the #@($*&$(@#*&$ boat motor". :) What is worse is I knew exactly where the rock was and was not where I thought I was, if that makes sense. West cutoff. Dumb me.

Dear OFTF,
It is indeed frustrating. I too have had my turn recently at boat repair. It started as a simple hull repair and wound up being an entire hull refinishing as well as a transom replacement, deck repair and a trolling motor replacement. The trolling motor goes on tomorrow.
I now have a 1996 boat with a 1 year old outboard. A new gel-cote outer hull. A new and very sturdy transom. New rod holders. A new, out of the box, trolling motor.
I do not dare tempt the boat gods by saying anything stoopid like, nothing else can possibly go wrong now.....everything is new.
Now is the time to do reel maintenance and review your tackle and maps.
FF salute1

Thanks brother. I did a jam up cleaning job of the interior compartments while it was at the house. Straightened out and replaced stuff. Gonna concentrate on turkeys until I get my boat back.

I saw your thread about your repairs. Made me feel lucky-sounds like you are back at it just in time.

Well, I killed my turkey and the season ended and still no motor. ($*#)&( UPS is still ****ing around with the claim. They are going to honor it and my mechanic will order a new reman unit on Monday, so I should be on the water in 2 weeks or so. I am so frustrated, I can't see straight. I could get all crazy with my mechanic and Bob's Machine shop, but it is not their fault, this is on UPS. Stuff happens, but taking this long to settle it is making me crazy.
