Near the Rock

Went out of Mickey Finn yesterday morning. Launched about 8:30 and fished around the rock. Had a limit of trout by noon. Fished closer to the Rock and caught one nice red, but had some big spanish cut me off and fishing bud lost a doormat at the boat.
While we were out there, two lonely fishermen kept coming round close to our boat. First they ran up and wanted to know if we knew where the birdracks were. (you could see the southern Ecofina birdrack from where we were)
Then they wanted to know how long we had been fishing the area. Then they moved off about 100 yards, but when we started catching fish, they came up and wanted to know what we were fishing with, then how deep ... etc ...etc. They didn't bother to move off this time. Lastly they asked us if we hadn't already caught our limit.
I told them to come on up and tie onto our boat so they could count our fish, plunder our tackle and eat our lunch. Idjit was didn't seem to catch my drift. I must be getting nicer in my old age. I didn't even pull my pistol.
Fish bite was good right up to low tide.
