Was lifted onto the water by 7:15. Wanted to fish the high tide, early morning with no wind. Engine wouldn't crank! Got out later and wind blowing stronger than I wanted to fish close inshore. Set up a drift and wife caught a 22" trout, I caught a 15.5 trout and a 23 inch spanish. Second drift nothing.
Moved to Spring Warrior fishing spots as we went along. Nothing!
Went to Eagles Nest. Nothing!
By this time I had thrown all my plugs, fished all my soft baits both on CT and jigs.
Back to #1 Birdrack. Nothing!
When I say nothing, I don't mean nothing. Just shorts and trash. NOTHING worthy of boxing.
4:30 came and only three in the box.
It then all came together. The wind was perfect, the drift perfect and the fish biting. Found good grass near deeper water and the bite was on. Wife caught another 23 inch trout and one almost 20". I limited out on trout and had three others which would have finished her limit but they got off at the boat.
Goes to show that you can't give up!
New Penny gulp was all they wanted from us and the four inch ones were best.
