Finally got a break to head out for some diving in a friends new/used mako....It turned out to be a perfect maiden trip for the boat. Motor ran great, feet stayed dry, weather great. We weren't sure what kind of vis we would find, but were very pleased. Except for where the gumbo is starting to break free in 35 ft and deeper, the vis was fine. Deeper areas seemed barren with the exception of a few mangos. Even the everpresent grunts were absent! Beautiful looking structure, but few fish. Things improved a little closer in. We trolled up 24" gag across a (new to us) low relief ledge. We hopped in a and saw a number of hogs, and nice gags... The area just seemed more "alive". Unfortunately, our take was modest given my buddy's speargun issues. We finished up at another rocky area and added another hog or two... No huge hogs like last fall, but it was encouraging to get some nice gags. Suprisingly didn't see a red grouper all day, not even a pee wee... All in all, a good day. Wouldn't trade it for anything!
