That is not a blue gill. It is a red eared sun fish or what most of us call a shell cracker. It is one of the best fighting fish there is.

THAT IS NOT A BLUEGILL ITS A SHELLCRACKER AND A NICE ONE NOTICE THE RED MARKING AROUND THE GILL THE WAKULLA RIVER IS KNOWN FOR THEM
