1st Steinhatchee trip

Hi guys, I am brand new to the board but I am impressed with the amount of information available and friendly posters. I am moderately experienced on the flats in Boca Grande and the keys, but I am making my first trip to Steinhatchee next weekend (10th-12th) and wondered if I could get a few pointers from the locals? I am bringing several friends and we are just hoping to catch some trout, reds, spanish, etc. Any spots and/or baits would be greatly appreciated. We are staying at the Sea Hag, and I bought a FL Sportsman chart if that helps with directions.
Thanks in advance!

Definately catch or buy some small pinfish to fish under a float for big trout. And dont forget the gulps. As far as where I am more familiar with Keaton. But the marina should be able to point you in the right direction. Look for good spotty bottom and start fishing. Good luck.

Reds will be tough to come by, but the trout are active on the flats. Check with the marina about where most are being caught. My guess is that they will send you north toward grassy island. Fish 2 to 7 foot of water. Get live pin fish, cajun thunder corks and gulps. The marina will tell you what the hot color is.

Thanks for the advice! I never leave without the Gulp, and I am decent with a cast net so I will definitely try to find some pins.

I rarely get my pins with a cast net, usually with a pole and small hook with a touch of shrimp or such.
