Been a kayaker for a long time but took the plunge into the boating world.
Just bought a 17’ G3 and need to know what you’d recommend for a gps/depth finder.
There are a lot out there on the market and don’t want to get more than what is really needed.
I already have a handheld Garmin but need a screen large enough for my aging eyes.
Any help/sarcasim would be appreciated.

I have a 7" Lowrance, not sure of the model, that is the combo unit and like it a lot.
The new ones are much neater than mine (2 years old) but either one will do fine for you.

Garmin 376C( if they even make them anymore) has worked for me. I don't use the sonar function but it's there if I wanted too. The unit is small a portable so I can use it on any boat or in the truck. It does XM radio too.

Garmin 540-546 series are really nice. I am pretty sure that some have a rebate of $100 on them.
Even the 440's are good and easy to use.

Very happy with my Garmin 840s, but that might be a little overkill for your new ride, Roger.
Hard to go wrong with the compact Garmin units, tho.
Why not keep the one you've got for awhile and buy a pair of Costa C-mates readers?

Thanks for all the recommendations. I'll use the handheld and see how that goes but I'm figuring I'll need one of the units that RC, Silverking and the rest mentioned.
I do have my readers

but a larger screen always helps. I've made a list of what's been recommended so that I can use it for future reference.
Thanks!

HEY ROGER, THE LOWRANCE AND THE GARMIN ARE BASICALLY THE SAME UNITS, I HAVE BEEN USING THE GARMIN FOR THE LAST 7-8 YRS AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEM.
