Went to Keaton Beach the last two days of the season...back to back. It was the best trout fishing in over 10 years. Went north from Keaton to Adams Beach area on Friday,Jan 30th and joined about 6-8 boats there. We started in 3 ft of water..nothing....went on in to 2 feet..caught a 19in. on topwater...Redfin.. nothing for another hour. Made a run toward shore..closer...and bam..bam..bam. Caught one about 18 in. and tangeled him in the net. While untanging...my partner caught 2 biguns. We went on to catch our limit....and then threw back everything for close to 1 1/2 hours...everyone 17-20 in..
Went back yesterday, Jan 31st. Counted 30 boats there...on the flats...last day of January...cold wind...never did warm up...seas much rougher. Fished for about an hour before the first strike.....went on the repeat the day before...but they were slower to bite. Quit at 1300 hours. All on topwater.
Son and his wife were there too... in another boat..and limited out.
Fantastic finish for the season.

Whew! That was a great report! Exhausting, catchin' all those bigguns! Thanks for sharing it with us temporarily land-locked lubbers.

Maybe they'll be even bigger and hungrier come March!
