St. Marks Reds

We embarked on another journey to the fertile waters of the Apalachee Bay last weekend.
Based on the hot weather, the water temperature & the smaller size of the reds we’ve caught this year, we had low expectations.
We haven’t gotten much love from the bigger reds this year so we opted for an East River voyage on Saturday morning. We sought to catch the falling tide off one of our preferred oyster bars.
It was a little slow to begin with, (1 red @ 19”, 1 trout, 2 black sea bass) but as the water started moving pretty good, Rob discovered their hide-out. It took him several minutes to land a “tournament quality” 27” red.
That was all it took to get all 4 of us down to that end of the bar. Rob, Bartman, Kent & Bullet were all catching nice reds at that point.
About 35 minutes later, we had landed 15 nice reds & released 12 of them. We had to keep the 19” red since he had already been put on ice. We ended up with 4 reds, 19”, 23”, 26.5” & 27”, a trout & a couple of black sea bass.
We ended up with 9.5 lbs of filets from the morning. It felt great to catch & clean quality fish again.
This is my 1st attempt @ loading pics on a post so be kind.
