July 19-Lighthouse

Met up with some buddies around 5 15 this morning to fish out of my friends boat. We were first ones in the gate at the lighthouse and first ones out of the canal. Tried to catch some bait in the canal but could not get anything. Went around to another bait spot and had a tough time there as well, maybe getting 10 baitfish max before heading to our spot. We brought a big shark rod along on the ride for some fun to attempt to get back at some of the sharks who have eaten our redfish. We started off the day with a couple catfish. One of them became shark bait and we got a good run about two minutes later. My buddy set the hook into him and the fight was on. We pulled anchor, chased it around, and finally got the beast boatside. We were able to lasso his tail and get some pictures, although it was hard to keep him from turning upside down. We guessed it to be about a six foot bull shark. Fun fight and even better revenge! The last couple pictures are videos, you may be able to watch them if you click on them, I'm hoping. Unfortunately we were shown no love from the redfish, moved out to the flats and were shown no love from the trout, and even hit a few other redfish holes and still nothing! Seems like a strange year....bait is hard to come by, trout bite has been slow all year, and now it seems like the redfish bite is strugglin a bit. Hope someone else finds em!

Haha no worries flatsbroke, this was west of the lighthouse. Head to the east and you can focus on those tasty bivalves!

You know times are tough when a shark has to resort to eating catfish instead of desired species. I bet it was a fun fight.

Saw the lights on and cars in the driveway this morning as the wife and I were taking our morning walk. I mentioned that we'd met last week and knew what y'all were up to. Told her I have to go fishing this weekend before you and your buddies catch em all! Good job!

And when Luc's lead is a shark report. Not complaining, just sayin.
