This might be a silly q. but I was watching some videos on youtube about the piers at PC. They catch cobia, kings, sailfish, and a plethera of others right off the piers and beaches. I don't see that much activity like that here. Not unless we go really far out. Does PC have some type of special coast line, r our waters to muddy maybe from the local rivers or am i missing something. :-?

Find a map that shows you the water depth from say Key West to La. It gets really deep real quick over there. If we had a pier that stretch that far out the Applac.Forest would be a clear cut ! :-D

The average distance to 30+ water around PC is 0.3 miles :o the average for "our areas closest spot" Saint George Island is 2.9 miles :smt012 and for other places it is well over 5 miles!! THAT is the reason for the differences

Going out of Ecky, add a 1 before the 5. :smt010 Love, love, LOVE Ecky but sure takes a while to get to the promised land... uhmm... not exactly "land" so make that "promised grounds".

Derf, kings and sailfish will indeed be rare off the beach (though bet a king or two find their way close to beaches around the islands on the Carrabelle side)... but cobia CAN be caught in some surprisingly shallow waters here. Just have to know what spots to hit, and the answer to that one is structure, structure, structure. Promise, I've caught some NICE keepers in 3' to 6' of water.

Thanx for the replys. I did some looken and it is 25-35 close to shore. I know drop offs are were it's at. Did not know PC was like that though. If it was like that here I bet it would be more crowded on the piers and beaches. Maybe it is a good thing then. Your right BBG, structure is very important. All fish love some type of coverage, even in my 55 gal. tank all my fish stay close to some type of foliage or rock that I have in there, (most of the time anyway). Hey Wevens, those fig. sound like they are not guesstimates but quotable facts. If I may ask, :D where did you get those figs. :D
