Went with some visiting friends offshore out of Apalachicola last Saturday. It turned out to be a great day with nice weather this weekend, which was a treat for one angler that had never been offshore before. Water temps were in the mid-80s and air temps in the low 90s laid down slick that morning with only a few swells left from last week's tropical storm.

The Shimanos we used performed well under the abuse dealt out by the King, Cuda, and Amberjack. We welcomed a good day of fishing after being stranded out in the Gulf for 2 hours the day before with a busted steering piston until Seatow came to the rescue - then Ace hardware helped us to fabricate the parts we needed to repair later that day, just in time to go out 30 miles the next morning!

I hope to target tarpon again next weekend. I am only seeing a few off the beach and in the passes where I have been scouting so I may have to make a road trip further east to see whats up where I experienced them a lot thicker in early July. I have a personal goal just to get my hands on one boatside. I have jumped several and busted off a couple next to the boat but still hope to actually land one

Caution on the brief language I could not edit out:
