Never taken my boat around St. George island before and I am this weekend. Does anyone know about the area on the bay side of the island? Is it clear of rocks and other danger? Or is it an area I need to worry about and not take my boat out since I have not been out in that area before? And what about the waves and wind there is it normally alittle rough there? The charts seem to show rough water this weekend.

Would appreciate any advice.

There are a LOT of oyster bars and shoals on the back side of St. George. You need to study the map closely.

East of the bridge has fewer obstructions. A 1/4 mile out are no obstructions.

Rocks and bars = fish, just be carefull, go slow and catch fish.

That's good info there. On the west side of the bridge there is some good fishing but be mindful that the water does get shallow in some spots. Stay out a good ways from shore 1/4 mile is good. Then idle in to the areas you want to fish.
The 3rd cove on the west side has a Yellow A-frame type house and straight out from it is a big sand bar. If fact it called Hotel sand bar because so many folks have spent the night there.
If you go down as far as Nick's hole on the left side you are good to come in a little closer. That is a good area to fish. the docks just before the cut are good too. But if I was fishing that area I would go on to Little St. George Island and fish behind it.
As for the wind it will depend on where it is coming from. A SW or SE wind will protect you. But a North or West wind will kick things up some.
