Went down to Shell Point on thursday to do some work and fishing. Put the boat in the water and the steering cable was locked up. While trying to free it it broke. Loaded the boat and called Shell Island and they said they could replace it on Friday morning. They called me by noon and I was fishing at 1pm. To me that was good service. No only did I get to fish, but I did not have to bring my boat back home.
Kudos to Shell Island Fish Camp. They were great.

Have been thinking about trying a trip out of this fish camp. Wondering if anyone can answer a few questions like do they have wet slips, how far down river to the flats, do you have to worry about tides, bars, etc. to get down and out of river?

About 6 miles is right. If you stay between the channel markers, you will be all right. The last couple of miles of river before you reach the bay are mine fields of oyster bars on both sides of the channel.
The folks at Shell Island Fish Camp are great. They usually have wet slips available.
