Offshore Lanark 11/9/2011

A buddy and I decided to give grouper a last go on wednesday due to the forecast not looking great the last weekend open on gags (tomorrow looks decent so were going anyways
) but thats beside the point. We left out of lanark ramp @ 8am and went searching for bait. It didnt take too long and we had 60 frisky pins in the livewell and we were heading south. The surface conditions were not great but it was doable. The waves were 2-3 ft all day stacked tight untill about 2 and then she layed to glass making for a nice ride in at 30mph. We fished a # in 50' and did pretty well. The current wasnt bad so we drifted the spot and every drift we would pick up a few. On the seccond drift I got slammed and boxed a nice 23" Gag. Then our 3rd drift I got slammed again and boxed a 26" Gag. On the last drift I boxed an 18" flattie...bonus (winning
). On to the next 3 spots only to find short fish and sea bass. We hit that # on the way in and Andy finally put a 24" Gag in the box. After that we fished a hole in 40 and I put a nice Red in the box and caught another Red right @ 20" but tossed it in fear of shrinkage(thats what she said lol
) on the way back to the dock. On the way in we hit the "SEA BASS DYNASTY" and just like last year they were there and hungry. In an hour we put 38 sea bass up to 15.5" in the box alond with another bonus flattie at 17". After that we pointed her north and hauled @$$ in on the slick calm seas just b4 sundown. We had a blast and hopefully tomorrow we will be able to get out if the wind allows and hit some holes off st marks that havent been fished all year. Cant wait...tight lines!!!

Im glad I have a pic on my phone of this Gag cause Ill 4get what they look like by the next time (july 2012) were alound to fish for em
