Spent most of last week in Venice LA with Bodine, Liveline, Mullet, and DD. Had a great time. Ready to plan my next tuna trip now.

The smaller fish we caught. For comparison, the larger tuna in this picture is 80 pounds. The blackfin was probably 35 pounds.

The Lump was kind a like the Yamaha on the 4th of July. Here's one of the 5 boats that our Captain had to deal with that all tried to set up in the same spot right next to us...............

Great pictures, thanks a lot.

I didn,t realise that so many boats, would be fishing in such a "small" area.
The Skipper must have to keep his wits about him, as I assume some of them must be keen "amateurs".

I would like to watch that kind of fishing, but I don,t think I would be fit enough to land a tuna over 100 lbs.
I,m guessing the fight is a lot different, than a running game fish, like a sailfish, or a marlin.
Even the smaller species tuna "fight to the death", its not hard to imagine how a large yellowfin would beat you up. :(

At last count, there were 73 boats in a 3/4 square mile area..........

It's interesting to see 65 ft Sportfisher pull his amchor and take a couple 26 foot Catamarans with him. :o  :o
