Hello
I live in Tallahassee and do not own a boat.
Can anyone recommend me a pier or a location i can drive to for Sheepshead or Redfish?
Thanks

True.

I don't know if you would call it a pier.... but if you get there early enough, the dock at the newport bridge offers some decent redfishing. And the dock at the city park in st.marks is decent for sheepies too. You can walk through the property at the old fort at st.marks and fish there at the point of the st.marks and wakulla rivers... I'm sure you can catch em up there if you can get therew first.
Good luck!

There is a small fishing pier at Bald Point State Park that can produce some good results for Red Fish when the tide turns. However, you may do better if you simply wade out a fish around the oyster bars.

With the rising temps this week, the spot kikstand mentioned by the fort is probably your best bet. The old boatworks by Newport is also a good spot.

Bald Point is probably the best suggestion.... lots of oysterbars. Reds, Black Drum and trout.

You might also want to check out the the old bridge out to St George.

Wow, thank you for the quick replies! I appreciate the recommendations from all you experienced fisherman. I will go try your recommendations! I usually fish out on the retired bridge by St. George Island but I have not caught any redfish or Sheepshead there. Mainly Whiting or Spanish Mackerel.

Try a couple of fiddler crabs on a #1 hook fished right by the bridge piling. You will be surprised!

Go to Wakulla Beach at low tide and get em by the bucket full.I take a wide yard rake and rake em up and throw em in the bucket.

Just an FYI :-D This time of year, you can catch Reds and Trout in most all of the rivers, within a few miles upstream of the Bay "Sheepies also, around structure"

Oysters are great for sheepies.
