A St. Marks Monday--Trout abundant

My fishing buddy and I finally had a chance to get out and get on the water. It has been a while. After catching up on the ride from Shields to the power plant we anchored up in the middle of the river out from the what I believe is the warm water discharge. We were fishing with shrimp and Gulps. 3 rd cast....bam....trout. 5th cast .....bam...trout and on and on up to between 45-50 in a couple of hours. Only problem was the dreaded cookie cutter 12 inch trout. We had a blast catching them but no fillets for the wife tonight. We saw boats in the same area but we only saw one other person catch one. We happened on the right spot. We were so on it that my buddy caught 4 of his trout vertical jigging of the front of the boat, joking that he saw it on an episode of Bill Dance yesterday. We were checked by FWC for our licenses, safety gear, and registration, no biggie as the officers were encountered were really nice and they were on their way to the next boat up the river. Weather was perfect and the winter sunburn on my face will attest and the disapproving look from my wife when I returned. Hope the report helps and tight lines to you all!
