King Starlite Plastic Sheet or expanded PVC marine lumber?

I need a 1/2" thick piece of 15" X 27" or larger expanded PVC or Starlite Plastic sheet marine lumber. Any other recommendations on a rot proof material that can be cut and hold stainless staples? The piece in the seat in front of my center console is cracked and I need to replace the sheet. I don't really want to use wood but I need something I can staple to when I wrap the vinyl material for the cushion and staple it under the board. I'm thinking regular starboard can't be stapled. I'm also thinking about using it under the center console to build a shelf to mount a stereo and maybe some extra storage.

The wife is leaving out of Orlando on a medical mission trip Wednesday and I'm driving the group down. I'll be bringing the church van back up on Thursday so I can shop in Orlando while there or hit Tallahassee in the near future. Any recommendations on places to look in Orlando? I was hoping to find it locally or find someone in the area who has some left over they wanted to sell possibly.

While I'm asking, where is a good source for closed cell foam and vinyl for recovering the seat. I found a guy in Camilla that is good at recovering but it's probably something the wife and I can handle with the right materials.

albany auto trim might be the place to call they did my boat seat along with replacing the hard board at the bottom. not sure if its made out of or is the same material youre looking for but wouldn't hurt to call and ask: (229) 432-9311 good luck hope it helps

The auto trim store orders it out of Atlanta as needed. I've got the boatoutfitters site saved already. That looks like my best bet to order online but a 15" x 27" piece is over $10 to have shipped and I'll have to wait on it. I guess it would cost me at least $10 to drive to Tallahassee anyway but I would like to have the piece in hand.

The guy at the auto parts store did say an idea would be to go under the cushion with plywood or a smaller piece of starboard and glue or screw it to the cracked area. That would be an easier and cheaper fix actually now that I think about it. I could even use a poly cutting board from Walmart for that...

E-Mail this guy in Florida. He has lots of scraps from building boat windows and hatches. I got a piece for my seat super cheap. He will just send you the rough cut scrap, and you cut it to size. Just tell him what size and thickness starboard you need.

Question? Can vinyl or sunbrella material be stapled to "regular" Starboard or Taco marine lumber? I was told on the other forum it could but the makers never say that. They say it can be cut, routed, and drilled but not stapled to.

I'll give Allen a shout. I haven't figured out what yet but I'm going to build something under the center console for more storage and to mount a stereo or other things that won't fit on the dash and would be better off out of the direct weather.

Yes. I use Monel staples to do it. never use regular staples. They will rust out in no time. Also use a GOOD gun that has some power to it.

By GOOD gun do you mean air compressor type or manual hand operated squeeze the trigger type gun? Figured on stainless staple for sure.
