A little bit of luck

Post by MuleTrainGA »

This saturday I decided to do a little bit of pre-fishing for the tournament out of panacea in april. Got there early and watched the sunrise while riding down the channel. Found a small school of bait on the edge of the channel and decided to fish the drop off on the channel with a BAB fighter. My fishing partner was throwing a skitter walk. After four fish in six casts I thought we were about to have a great day of fishing. Then.... WHAP!!! all of a sudden my partner went to cast and a wind knot froze his reel up and sent the skitter walk right into my face. After realizing what happened I tugged on the lure and realized it buried itself in the corner of my eye. Not exactly knowing what to do I pulled it out and went ahead and headed in. Went to the ER at TMH and was treated immediately. Ended up with a lacerated cornea and had surgery on sunday. So far the road to recovery looks like a slow one but I don't care whether I have to wear safety goggles. I WILL fish in the nfgfc tournament in april. A big thanks to the folks at the rock landing marina for helping me out in a time of need. Although it hurt I am thankful that I can at least partially see out of my right eye. I was millimeters away from losing my eyesight in that eye forever. God was looking out for me!

Man, that's close. My prayers are with you.

I just had a similar situation a few weeks ago. Lifting weights at the gym and burst a blood vessel in the back of my eye. Started losing site in my right eye and have been going to Dr.s for the past few weeks. They say they have it under control and my sight will return as my body absorbs the blood.

Evidently my blood pressure went too high when I was shoving on the weights.

These type incidents make you really value your eyesight. Hang in there.

Hope everything turns out well for you....Ended up with a mirrolure TT 51 in my achilles tendon once, and a sabiki in a friends ear another time...both times were scary and ended a fun day too soon...But I'm glad you're gonna be ok and hope you come in 1st at the tournament!

Yeh it really does make you realize how important your sight is to you. It also just makes you wonder how much worse it could have been. One step one way or one step the other could have changed the whole outcome even if I would have turned my head an inch the outcome could have been drastically affected. Just one more thing to make you stop and appreciate everything God has given to us.
