Which Antenna mount should I get? It will be a ratcheting, but should I go with the metal or nylon ratcheting base?

Thanks....

Depends on how big of an antenna you are using. For 4 foot or under, the nylon is fine.

Got a nylon on mine. Used to think I wanted a stainless.
After abusing my $70.00 antenna a couple times by stepping on it when it was retracted, and smacking it last weekend while backing it under the shelter. I'm now glad I got the plactic one that gives. Better than the fiberglass antenna cracking. :o
Another point to concider; the antenna will screw onto the base. You'll have about 15 foot of cable to deal with hanging off the base of the antenna when you screw it on.

That's why you screw on the antenna BEFORE you mount the base.

On the same subject....I need a base for my GPS antenna. I would like a nylon, but can't find one to fit on an 1-1/4" rail.
I've checked Bass Pro, west marine, and boaters world...no luck.

Any ideas???

What kind of GPS antenna do you have? Most will fit on a standard VHF radio antenna mount.

It's the mushroom shaped Garmin antenna. It will fit on a standard VHF mount. I just can't find a nylon mount to fit on the 1-1/4" rails on the t-top. I have a stainless mount for the CB, but wasn't looking to spend quite as much on the gps mount. May have to.......

GC, go down to Advantage Marine in Medart and tell them what you need. They can get it for you. Tell them I sent you.
