I was reading that lake talquin and lake seminole are both stocked with striped bass. Does anybody ever fish for them? How? Do you eat them? I have family in New York who catch stripers and tell me how fun they are to catch and how good they taste.

YES, DOWN BELOW THE DAMS IS THE BEST PLACE TO FISH FOR THE STRIPPERS, I USE A 1 OZ. YELLOW JIG AND WORK IT AROUND THE ROCKS AT THE BASE OF THE DAMS, YOU NEED TO US AT LEAST 50# TEST LINE AND LEADER. SOME PEOPLE FISH UP IN THE LAKES FOR THEM AND DO WELL BUT I HAVE ALWAYS CAUGHT MORE AND BIGGER STRIPERS AT THE BASE OF THE DAMS.

What time of year do you usually get them?

50 pound test? Not around here. Dams are a great place to start. You will catch more hybrids than stripes though. Eufala is a good place also for stripes.

Do you eat the hybrids or stripers?
