4/27 Keaton Beach

Post by ddb »

Had a fairly successful day at Keaton Beach with one long time friend and a new one. Water temps started at 69 but warmed to 75 by the afternoon. Picked up 6 trout on the morning fall, another 5 on the afternoon rise (thought it would be better), and finished up at the begining of the evening fall. We had our best luck in 4-5', in stained water, but also had some success in 4-5' clear water once the wind got up. Friends got the picks, my camera died.

Sounds like a good day's results. Dang fish don't know whether to wear an overcoat or T-shirt with the way the water temp keeps going back and forth. Got a feeling it will do nother but rise from here on. Thanks for the report ddb.

The water temps are climbing and we are starting to see some bait on the water. Surprised we aren't picking up more spanish and blues mixed in, but it will happen. Saw plenty of activity, large rays, cobia, sheephead, etc., and something very large (?shark, cobia, probably too early for tarpon). I'll be back to Keaton next week, Wed-Sun, so anyone down there stop in and say hello, cottage 8 I think?
