Wakulla River Wildlife

Went for a ride up the Wakulla yesterday. Saw about 5 gators, 2 manatees, all manner of fish, an osprey, and a couple snakes. Always neat to see the wildlife. We saw this snake and can't figure out what it is. It was hanging out in the weeds with just his head above water. It didn't spook, until I prodded it was stick, and then it didn't dart off, rather it just slid beneath the grass. Anyone know what it is?

Also, on the way back in, out front of the slips on the wakulla in the no wake zone, we saw a large fish finning around. At first I thought it was a shark, but it didn't have the right texture. It was slow moving, but we only caught sight of it twice. My guess is it was about 3 feet in length. Thoughts?

Big fish may have been a gar.

If it was dark colored, it could have been a huge mudfish. Did it have a dorsal fin? Their's runs the whole length of the back.

Looked like a single dorsal with a curved tail as tall or nearly as tall as the dorsal.

We have been seeing a bunch of Jack Crevalle up in the creeks lately. Not sure if they go all the way up in Wakulla River though. They can look kinda dark from above.
