Kingfish!!!

Went out Saturday morning about 9:30 from Lanark. Got a late start kind of felt good to sleep in for a change.
Ran out to end of Dog Island and picked up some live pin fish and we were off.
Hit the first hole by 10 and nothing there. We were in almost 60 feet and decided to try a shallower hole since the reports have been in close. Stopped at 45 feet. We were not there 10 minutes and put a nice grouper in the boat. All right we made the right decision coming in closer. Fishing went slow at first and I decided to grab some lunch and watch my pole in the holder for a while. Took the first bite and WHAM fish on!!! 48" smoker Kingfish! Due to some issues with my grouper rod earlier I was using an open face reel on a heavy rod. This made the fight that much more fun. After boating him I thought I would try casting a big jig head with an eel I bought from Kevin's yesterday. Lin said that they worked well out here so why not.
First cast produced a 40" King and he destroyed and jig head!!!! I only bought two of them so I swtiched to the backup and brought in two more Kings bringing the total to four and we decided to go back to grouper fishing.
All in all total of 3 grouper 2 nice rock bass and 4 very nice Kings. We saw schools of kings at the end of the day that looked like a black cloud under the water. Really nice day on the water.
