Blue line saves the day

I took some friends fishing last weekend that wanted some fresh Spanish macs. We were trolling spoons on dog island reef, in about 6'. My buddy hooked up on his side and I cleared the line on my side. After putting one in the cooler we got going again, about 4-5 mph. We both casted out and I turned to look forward. My wife was facing backward and I saw her face light up and look at my rod. I turned to look and it was gone. In the drink. I'm not sure if a fish pulled it out or I didn't seat it well or both. I slammed in reverse and went over the spot. We all looked and couldn't see a thing. The water was very stirred up from the wind. Then my wife saw the light blue line (power pro super slick 10#). we were able to get a hand on it and pull the rod and reel in. The combo would have run me $450 to replace. Whew! When I bought the line, I wasn't crazy about the baby blue color, but wanted to try the line. I can say for pretty sure, that we wouldn't have seen green or smoke colored braid. I don't think this will ever happen again, and probably isn't a good argument for hi vis line, but it saved me a few bucks. And the line is great, by the way. I like it better than the original pp, and I think I like it better than 832. But the jury is still out on that.

soooo...was anything on the other end?

this reminds me of the time i was night fishing on the tennessee river and fell asleep. i woke up to a splash and my new quantum PT was gone. the next morning i threw the cast net all around the dock, and got in the water to feel around for it....nothin. that was july of that year. the following april they drew the water down for one reason or another and my uncle found the pole under the dock. soaked the reel in wd40 and it worked just fine. i still use that quantum to this day with no problems. its got different line on it though :)

Best catch you made all day! Similar thing happened to my nephew. We were drifting a pinfish and he leaned it on the gunwale for a second when WHAM a bull red chased to the surface and nailed it. Instanty the rod was out of the boat. We both grabbed poles and casted to where we thought the line would be. He hooked it with a spoon and reeled in the reel. Mr red had spit the hook by then. Shew. I have pulled up 2 reels from the botton with my anchor. One was an Okuma baitfeeder exactly like the one I use. Both were barnacle encrusted. I mounted one with the barnacle to my barn wal. Looks cool anyways. Glad ya got back your rig.

I've been fishing blue colored braid for about a year and a half (15# Diamond from Kevin's) and I love it.
