West flats?

Only been on the west flats a few times and wondering about getting out there from St Marks. Last time i was unsure and went all the way south to the last channel marker before swinging west then back north to get over around Patty's Island. Feel like i'm going around my ass to get to my elbow but not sure about cutting west right out of the mouth of the st marks. I've seen the oyster bars at low tides and don't see anything on the chart that looks like an obvious channel over there unless i'm missing something. Any input?

Thanks in advance. Taking the wife and kids tomorrow. hope to do a little fishing in the morning and hang out at the bird rack after.

You don't have to go that far south. Line up with the chute coming out of the lighthouse boat ramp and head due west.
Be carefull...there are some oyster bars around the channel. Go slow unitl you get the hang of it. If you go out on a low tide you can cut west closer to the mouth if coming from the river. The bars are visible on a low tide.

WHAT PIZZEL SAID, I ALWAYS LAUNCH AT THE LIGHTHOUSE POOL AND JUST HEAD STRAIGHT OUT FROM THE CANAL OVER TO THE #1 STAKE ON THE WEST FLATS, IF YOU ARE AN HOUR OR MORE FROM LOW TIDE YOU WILL HAVE NO PROBLEM IF YOU USE COMMNON SENCE, JUST TAKE IT EASY TILL YOU KNOW AND MARK WHERE THE BARS ARE LOCATED.
