got this guy under a big ol' grass line. heck of a fight.

Not knowing the regs or table-fare, tossed it back.

always see the younger ones at the reefs/structure.

Atlantic Spadefish. Most say they are good to eat. I've never tried one. I didn't see a size limit on the chart, but that would have to be a keeper because that's a big one. Good catch!

I got some at rotary reef a few weeks ago. I blackened them and made fish tacos. They were very good.

Might as well give it a try, once. I did, and I found it awful. Release them, IMO. Almost anything I catch is way better, including grunts. The taste and appearance of the meat is about equal to pinfish, which I also tried long ago when my son caught one as "first fish".
