Tough, tough year for bluegrass/mountain folk music fans. First Earl Scruggs, now Doc Watson... loved the musical talents of both, but Doc's music struck a deeper chord in my soul. Rest in peace, Doc, rest in peace. Pray that you and your son Merle are getting to pick together again today.

Saw Doc and Merle in Memphis when I was stationed there. Great show and a class act (as was Earle).
They're all pickin' and grinnin' in Heaven today, with John Hartford joining in.

Saw Doc at the Exit Inn in Nashville, TN years ago. Saw Earl at the Tennessee Theater in Knoxville before he passed. I really believe "they're in a better place."

Doc actually played at the "Pride of the Piedmont Jubilee" in my small hometown of Laurens SC, when I was a teenager. I was so busy running around acting like a teenager, I only half-listened. Few years later that I followed-up on his music and increasingly appreciated his tremendous talents. Had it to do all over again, I would be glued to that stage like white on rice.
