From SWEET HOME ALABAMA....."Come on Bryant, let's leave this lady alone."
It may be that my sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Looks like she might be sporting a badge on the other hip. Or is that an extra clip?
I'd be scared to open carry in Walmart. I want my available defenses to be known to me only.
I don't want any of those thugs to know I could take 18 of them down with one clip.

If it's going to be used for anything but a visual deterrent she needs to carry that 1911 cocked and lock. Looks to be hammer down, safety off.

good eye BH. Looks like a pretty nice Kimber though

If it is half as accurate as the one I just purchased then it should be a pretty good deterent.

No kidding, "hold on Mr mugger while I cock the hammer of my piece". When I carried my Les Baer 1911 it was always hammer cocked, safety on. On a Series 70 design 1911 without a firing pin safety having the hammer down leaves the firing pin free to contact the primer, if the hammer gets knocked on something it can set it off. Plus if your finger slips while you're trying to cock or decock the hammer, boom. Couple years back in Crawfordville a guy shot his wife in the chest and killed her while trying to manually let down the hammer on his .45 when he could have just racked the slide and have been fine . Cocked and locked is the safest way to carry.Barhopr wrote:If it's going to be used for anything but a visual deterrent she needs to carry that 1911 cocked and lock. I wish open carry had passed here when it was up for voting a few months back, but the usual dummy legislators had to change the wording until it didn't even resemble the original bill.

Just making an observation. Flanders is my boy, he knows I wasn't knocking him.

1911's aren't for everyone. Especially if your uncomfortable with it cocked and locked. Only way to carry a 1911
