Keaton Fishing Trip Friday 6/22/12

We took two of our grandson's, ages 4 and 13, fishing out of Keaton yesterday. The report is to go south which we don't like but we did go south. Caught a few shorts and two keepers in the fifteen inch range. After a couple hours we decided to go north to our favorite fishing grounds. Four year old went to sleep every time we move for any period of time so he stayed asleep most of the morning. We found fish in 6 - 4 foot water and I had my limit by eleven. Came out with sixteen trout and one black sea bass. Everyone caught fish.
We had a good trip and topped it off with a pezza party on the way home.
For the last several trips my fishing has been off. Seems the new yellow cork must look like a banana to the trout. Took it off and caught fish again.
Natural gulp shrimp seemed to work best. The fingerling mullet found on the dock worked as well.
We were undecided as to our four year old being legal to keep fish. Made one last drift needing two more trout and caught three. The four year old had caught one keeper trout and a sea bass plus several shorts which we returned to the sea. We came in with his fish plus our limit but wasn't sure.
