Went to Bald Point again this afternoon with my dad. We could only get frozen shrimp. Below is our haul. The bite was ridiculous again. Got probably 12-14 reds total, 1 Black Drum, 1 too small Trout, and a whole ton of catfish (those don't count).
Red #1: 26.5"
Red#2: 21"
Red#3: 18"
Red#4: 19"
Drum: 15"

If you only knew how the dozen or trips before yesterday went, you wouldn't be saying that I'm sure. Catfish, catfish, shark, catfish, pinfish, shark, grunt... catfish... ugh...

I went out of Shields mid morning and fished 4 hours. I caught 4 pinfish. I fished shallow, deep, around oyster bars and over spotted bottom. Water was moving the whole time. I don't get it.

Each time I went I arrived in late afternoon at dead low tide. Even though the tide was in transition, like you said, there was a steady current from all the runoff. In each case the fish were biting fairly steadily, but it was as the tide really began to turn to rising that the bite exploded. The water on top had the appearance of moving out in spite of rising tide, but the current underneath was moving in the opposite direction. I was bottom fishing with frozen shrimp and casting into areas where the currents were strongest (channels between oyster bars and shore, etc.) when the tide was slack, but as it began to turn I was catching closer to the bars in areas of calmer water. Bite was especially strong as the sun was beginning to disappear. Maybe that helps.

Awesome catch! The river/mouth of the river action will only get better as the water continues to cool. Congrats!
