Wevans' river 3/12

Post by tin can »

Me and the old guy with the long curly blonde wig (Sir Reel) headed down to meet up with Wevans and fish the Ochlockonee this afternoon. We took my Champion. SR's wig blew off no more than 100 yards from the landing.

We headed up the river to find The Sopchoppy Redneck already there. We fished around the mouth of Crooked river for about an hour and a half without a bite. I decided to go to Buckhorn and fish the ledge where I had caught a bunch of bass on a previous trip. We didn't get bit there, either. So, we proceed to The Dead River and fished the bonnets. I did a fine job of teaching Sir Reel how to miss fish. I missed at least 4 on a paddle tail. He had one half way to the boat on a spinnerbait, and let it get off. I finally caught one on a Texas rig. About 5:30 we ran back up river to where we had left Wevans. He had managed 3 bass on a stretch of bank up river. Right before we had to pack it in the stripers started rolling. SR managed to catch a small one, looked to be about 14".

Not a lot of catchin, but the company was good and the weather was beautiful.

SR did notice the boat felt a little funny and roda a little high. He commented there mut not have been much boat in the water when we were running. He asked if it was supposed to dance around like that. I told him it was doing exactly what it was supposed to do. :-D

Sorry for not pipeing in sooner fellas, it's been a busy weekend :-? I really enjoyed the time out there "just wish the fishin had been better" :-D I did a lttle more investigating and as I figured, the story on the earlyer fish got messed up in the telling :o They caught their fish over at the mouth of Wood Lake "told ya Jackie hardly ever left that area" and Tommy just figured it was the Trussles that they caught em at :( Maybe we will get em next time

Oh well. It was good to get on the water. SR and I had a good time, even if he did lose his wig. It's always good to meet up with friends on the water.

We'll get'um next time.
