Road down to Panacea yesterday to hang out with Tyler Oden and dropped in to see Capt.Joel at SeaTow.
While we were there he got a call from the Coast Guard saying there was a report of a log floating off the Ochlockonee channel.
They were nowhere near and asked him to move it. This is not something he gets paid for... He is just doing it to keep the water safe for the rest of us.
He started packing up and said he was going out - Tyler and I offered to come along and help.

We got the the Rock Landing Marina and I'm happy to say they are back in business. Restaurant, Tiki Bar and marina store are open and ready!

Found the boat in great shape and safe in the barn!

There were a few folks that were not so fortunate with Debbie

After a quick marina tour we hopped on with Capt Joel and Rosco...

The log turned out to be a 40 foot tree! And it was not easy to see in the chop. I cant imagine what it would do if a boat hit it at full speed.
Image
It took a couple of tries before I lassoed it... Of course Tyler only videoed the misses ;-)

Finally got it tied up.

And towed it out of folks way... And now I have a new secret redfish spot ;-)

The trip out made me appreciate Capt. Joel and SeaTow even more.
This cost Joel gas and time- but he did the right thing.
Joel, Thanks for doing more than just bringing us gas and towing us in.
Thanks for going the extra mile to keep us safe out there!

Very interesting, good to hear that he towed in the tree for our protection. I'm with Tow Boat US, and am glad to have the peace of mind.
Glad to hear the marina is back in business. It looks like a few boats got messed up pretty bad. Once that saltwater gets in the motor, I've heard it's all over for the engine.

Thanks Capt Joel.

And thanks bman for report.

Been a member for several years, and even though I've never had to call for help, it's most definitely money well spent.
Plus I never hear the wife grumble about that fishing expense.

It was beautiful yesterday, looks like yall had a nice boat ride. I was down there fishing the pier behind Crum's and could see the sailboat laying on it's side but had no idea about the other damaged boats. I'm glad your boat is OK.

After reading this post I guess it is time to get myself a membership. Thanks Capt Joel for making the water a little bit safer for everyone.

Think I got my seatow the same day as the insurance, I consider them both essential. Thanks for all you do Capt. Joel!
