I am looking at the maps online trying to learn my way around the St. Marks area. I saw this and was wondering what it was. Thanks.

I think it is the "birds roost"......very shallow area east of it. During the summer, folks park their boats, get out and swim...and

It's locally known as the Birdrack sandbar because the St. Marks Birdrack tripod is on the western edge of it. High tide it is about 3-4 feet deep. Low tide it can be completely out of the water. Normally it should be avoided when navagating. It can be a good place to catch pinfish and the southern dropoff can be great fishing at times.

And I hear that the sights can be somewhat fullfilling also
