Great Weekend...sort of

It was a regualar Saturday, or so she thought. Lines where tied, cooler iced, bait in live well. Headed SE past lighthouse, got to the spot where I dropped the anchor. Got the girlfriends line in for her( being nice, she usually does it herself). After a few casts and no bites she wanted me to change bait for her. I Reached in to my pocket and pulled out the one that I said "this one always helps me catch what I want". She looked back and I was on knee with engagement ring. She was so shocked. After choice words where said, she said yes. She began to call friends and family, I tied on a redfish magic and stood off bow and got in to the trout. Her friend and I were in cahoots about planning my birthday party(actual date 8/1) at the Cantina, it was actually her planning her own engagement party. Great night With great friends.
Then...
Went out Sunday, fished east flats. The wind and waves were picking up so we made the call to head up the river and hang out with friends. The motor cut out. Got it fired up again, then cut out. Was not getting fuel. I had never had a problem with this motor. And it barely has 230 hrs on it. Fired it up, one time had it wide open running at 5knts towards channel. Wind and waves where Howling, storm was brewing. Set anchor anchor and called for a tow. The tow boat was 3hrs out. The anchor line snapped, and we were again at the mercy of the sea. Finally got friend on radio, to come get us. We got back to Sheilds right before the bottom fell out.
Survived the first hiccup in a lifetime of love, laughter & friendship....now just to see what the repair bill is gonna be.
Tight lines y'all. I(we) might be landlocked for a little while.
