Gulps???

Anyone ever put a bunch of different colors in the same screwtop container? Do the colors bleed into one another? Was wondering because the baggies never seem to close good and dry out. Would be easier to put them all in one container with the juice.

Yeah, mixing gulps no problem.

Brings up a minor irritation, so I'll rant. One would think that a company like Berkley, who has clearly invested a lot of R&D in a good product like Gulp, and who is clearly selling the crap out of them (translation . . . making a boat-load of dough off them), would be able to come up with packaging that doesn't leak their secret sauce all over the place.

Clearly they should use the zip-lock bags instead of the snap-lock type. And more importantly, one would think they would be smart enough to put their Gulp "Alive" baits in a jar that 1) doesn't leak and 2) is easy to open and close with one hand.

Berkley, WAKE UP! Its simple. Really. . . . Give us Gulp! in a square-cornered container with a hinged snap-tight lid you can open and close with one hand.

Gulps! were developed and field-tested at the FSU Marine Lab near St. Teresa. I did a story on the lures awhile back for the Democrat and talked to the designer at Berkley. He never would divulge the ingredients (it's not like it's the Coke formula or anything  ), but rumor has it menhaden is the primary component.

I also hear JT51 is a stealth field-tester for Berkley. He can give the precise Gulp! color combo for a specific tide to catch the biggest catfish swimming between Keaton and Apalach on a waning full moon preceding a solar eclipse.

And I'm going to beat you to it, JT: Pfffffffffft!

I have been using this setup for the last couple of years. Bottles for aprox. 3 bucks at Wally World, plastic fork/spoon to dip them.....no leaks...no color bleeding....and they fit great side by side in the end pocket of my tackle bag.

A college buddy worked on them and gave me some of the early versions. They were a lot smellier- if that's possible.
Didn't hold up as well but the fish loved them.

I've wondered why FSU does not publicize this more...

A one-handed operation is important to me. Yeah, I manage the screw-on lids okay, but just imagine how much easier (and faster) it would be if you could keep your rig in one hand and then open-grab-close Gulp jar with the other hand. :o

I hear the Gators have copied the Gulp and it comes in a beer can, Pop the top and the gulps fly right out, then drink the beer(fishy tasting beer)...

Huh?
I'm not sure if anyone else has tasted gulps, but they don't taste anything like they smell. I was catching pinfish one day and I misplaced my knife. I took small pieces off w my teeth. It actually has a sweet taste. Not fishy at all

you must of sprinkled some sugar on it first because it tastes absolutely terrible. Made the mistake of doing the "bite a piece off" method before, too a day or so before I could get that foul taste out of my mouth.

never again.

Im sure no sugar was sprinkled. I've bitten probably hundreds of small pieces of gulps. Usually one that has been used, but occasionally right out of the bag/tub. Never found the taste offensive. And Im sensitive to "fishy" tastes. Strange. Anyone else have any experience with tasting gulps?
