We're looking at the Minn Kota Talon for a powerpole. Anyone have any experience with this brand versus the Powerpoll brand. It seems that the Talon deploys with less room needed. Looks like it's easier to install as well. Thoughts.

I have the Talon, we installed it on our boat in about an hour. Great product IMO.

 No surprise, but Ken's talked about the camping cover from time to time. I draw the line at sleeping on the boat. :D

Great points! We hadn't thought of that until you mentioned it. We've seen the pp in use on other boats when we've been out fishing, until you mentioned that, didn't connect. Thanks!

JT, Camper will have to wait.... trolling motor, pp and jackplate take priority right now. Maybe camper by winter. We can meet up for lunch on the river at your hole of choice. :-D

I like my Talon, no 8' arm out the back of the boat for a fish to tangle in, easy to install, fast and quiet. Went out with a guide who said he would never use a power pole again as he had lots of problems with the pumps. Everyone has their favorite but I would buy another Talon no questions asked.

Look at both products in use online, look at the components each has, see if you can find a video of one being used on a pontoon and if that would apply to your situation before you decide. Like I said, I prefere the Talon but I am sure both products are OK. Good Luck.

I have a Talon, had some issues at first , but M K came thur to the extent of a new Talon and a new mount after a year of use and installed the unit for free. I would recomend the 8ft. model
