I've got a few places I've found in my kayak where I consistently find tailing redfish. I tried taking my skiff to one of those spots this morning, and there is little that is quite as frustrating as sitting high and dry (Mitzi web site claims 5" draft--my rear!), pushpole not pushing anymore, and seeing tails 75 yards further up. Combined with some errant casts on the shots we did get, and one hookup (lost due to my buddy tightening down the drag when I wasn't looking and the 8 lb. test snapping when he set the hook like Jimmy Houston :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: ), the morning was not what I had hoped.

We ran back and joined the Armada floating east of the lighthouse. Drifted, caught a few throwbacks, 3 keepers, then got bored...drifting the flats has never been my bag, and we'd gotten enough to eat, so we ran to the next shoreline.

Found quite a few reds creeping along the shoreline--most were small, but a mid-slot would blow out from the grass every now and then. Again, it was a frustrating time, because this go 'round, we had some good shots with spoons on the fishies noses, but still no takers. It was good to see fish in the grass, though.

In the water at 7:05, off the water at 1:55--couldn't have been a nicer day, weatherwise. Just wish the redfish would have been more cooperative.
