Do it all the time. Just a little harder to hold back on jerking it, in skinny water. If I have new folks or kids fishing with me I use Gamakatsu "Live Bait" hook. Not as good for the released fish is the only bad point. They WILL stick though.

I like a khale style hook myself. I feel I get a better hookup with it. I also like it better for cobia. Don't like circles for the cobes.

You can do both, but I prefer just to reel.

I love using khales for trout and i do set the hook. I agree w/ Tom on 4-5's. I don't think I would use to target spanish.

I thought live bait fishing was what we were talking about. :o I do believe it's against the law to use a treble with live bait in Florida.

Actually I believe the law reads "Natural Bait" which can be alive or dead.
However,
the harvest of (insert gamefish) within or without state waters by or
with the use of any treble hook in conjunction with live or dead
natural bait is prohibited.

This might need its own thread but I disagree

I think that specific species are illegal to take with a trebbel and 'natural' bait

Other species are okay to take in this manner

Check the state's .pdf here and look at the "T" next to certain species listed, then scroll down the the bottom of the second page and tell me what the "T" means

http://marinefisheries.org/Regulations/ ... 200401.pdf

The language of the state's chart there leaves a lot of questions to be answered...

Fishbites -- natural bait? Is a Fishbite on your top water illegal then?
Those double hooks designed for scripms, if you put a scrimp on them, looks like they are illegal for a lot of inshore species...
