Scallop Equipment

Post by Kayakmon »

I am thinking about scalloping from a kayak next season. I am wondering what type of equipment would be handy to scoop them up while I am in my boat? I would prefer not to snorkel, would like to try rigging or purchasing something I could scoop them right up with. Any suggestions on a scoop would be appreciated.

Obviously you would want to have an Ice Cooler and a 5 gallon bucket. What else would you guys suggest?

Thanks!

Long handle dip net would work just fine if you can see them from the kayak. We use them while snorkeling so you don't have to dive to the bottom. You can get them @ Wally World, Academy, etc. The wood handle ones usually float in case you drop them.
